Foster Circle: Being Present in the Lives of Vulnerable Children

October 22, 2024
Foster Circle Event Kirribilli Sept 24

Every child deserves a safe and loving home. Yet in New South Wales, over 16,000 children are currently in out-of-home care, a number that highlights the need for community support.

That’s why we’ve established Foster Circle, a program that brings communities together to walk alongside foster families, offering support and presence when it’s needed most.

Anglicare’s Foster Circle creates a support network for foster families, allowing local churches to walk alongside carers as they face the challenges of caring for vulnerable children. Already, five churches have embraced this program, and more are set to join. By working together, we are helping to share the load and offer families the care and encouragement they need.

There are practical ways to make an impact;

  • Preparing a meal for a foster family, especially those caring for children with complex needs, can provide nourishment and relief.
  • Offering free babysitting.
  • Helping with small home projects, like building a safety gate, can give carers peace of mind and much-needed respite.

These small gestures let foster families know they are valued. While not everyone is called to be a foster carer, each of us can contribute meaningfully to ensuring vulnerable children and their carers feel loved and cared for.

Foster Circle Event at Bridge Church Kirribilli where attendees gathered to learn more about supporting vulnerable children and foster care families “Fostering has brought such blessing to us and our entire family, as well as our wider church family. A joy to see lives transformed."
