Anglicare’s Corporate and Social Responsibility Policy aims to protect the environment, drive sustainability, and promote community and social responsibility when implementing programs to support the community. We have the following objectives to guide our decisions:
Anglicare commits to eliminating slavery and human trafficking within its supply chains and operations as soon as reasonably possible.
Anglicare commits to taking into account environmental sustainability in its purchasing decisions, including the reduction of carbon emissions, reduction of plastics and pollutants and the minimisation of waste.
This policy will apply to all Anglicare staff, and suppliers including their employees, agents, volunteers, contractors, consultants and business partners.
Due to the hidden nature of modern slavery, the process of identifying and eradicating it from it from Anglicare supply chains and operations will develop incrementally and higher costs may result from implementation.
Suppliers tendering for Anglicare contracts over $1M will be required to certify to Anglicare their compliance to the Anglicare Code of Practice, which requires them to:
Suppliers with total turnover of more than $100M per annum will be required to certify to Anglicare their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) (the Act).
Anglicare may at its discretion give preference in future works and orders to Suppliers who can demonstrate compliance with this policy.
Anglicare seeks to minimise its impact on the environment including reduction in the use of resources and waste generation, and by recycling where practical, taking into account cost and quality.
Anglicare will take the following factors into account in its purchasing decisions:
Anglicare will collaborate with Suppliers and develop ongoing relationships by the principle of continuous improvement.
Welcome, rather than penalise Suppliers identifying activities that fall below acceptable sustainability standards (undertaken by themselves or their sub-contractors).
Consider a similar ethical trading standard as a reasonable alternative where Suppliers are already working towards sustainability.
Anglicare will, and we expect our Suppliers to ensure that all relevant people are provided with appropriate training and guidelines to implement the requirements of these principles.
Anglicare will, where appropriate, provide reasonable access to relevant information, premises, workers (through interviews), and cooperate in any assessment against this principle – using reasonable endeavours to ensure that sub-contractors do the same.
Anglicare will purchase from Suppliers that support, employ or are owned by minorities or marginalised groups. Social procurement can help support marginalised communities and reduce disadvantage. These Suppliers may include, for example: social enterprises, Indigenous suppliers, and small, medium, and regional suppliers.
Anglicare may at its discretion choose to not contract with suppliers who cannot satisfy its policy requirements.
