Waking up to the warmth of the morning sun streaming into your room, as you take your time getting ready. There’s no rush, the team at Melva McDonald Lodge understands your pace and makes sure you have the freedom to move through your mornings just how you like. Breakfast will be ready when you are.
The smell of freshly brewed coffee and toast wafts through the air. This morning, you feel like scrambled eggs and a cup of tea. As you walk into the dining area, familiar faces greet you with a smile as you take your seat at the table. The conversation is light and cheerful – a perfect start to the day.
Community
Later, you head outside for ‘walk and talk’. The sun is warm, and the walk filled with chatter and plenty of laughs as you and your friends make your way along the gentle pathways.
After your walk, you head to Potters Cafe to recharge with a cappuccino and sweet treat. There’s a group of lively ladies feverishly knitting and chatting, clearly enjoying the company of each other and their creative pursuits. A sense of pride and purpose sweep over you, as you set up a table to sell these beautiful creations of hand knitted blankets, scarves and beanies to visitors, to raise money for charity. You are so grateful to be a part of the caring and generous community at Melva McDonald Lodge.
Dining
When dinner time comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Melva McDonald Lodge so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
