The smell of freshly brewed coffee and toast wafts through the air. This morning, you feel like scrambled eggs and a cup of tea. As you walk into the dining area familiar faces greet you with a smile as you take your seat at the table. The conversation is light and cheerful – a perfect start to the day. ;
Community
Over breakfast, you catch up with friends, talking about the plans for the day. Today, you’re looking forward to men’s group which is very popular with all the males. A lively social group, you all enjoy hearing about each other’s lives which always generates much joy and laughter.
As you head down the hall you hear the ladies chatter as they embark on their creative pursuits, for some it's colouring in, others it's crocheting.
You step outside for a walk through the courtyard. On the way, a staff member stops for a chat, asking about your family and grandkids. Their kindness and interest in your life are genuine, almost like they’ve always known you. It fills you with a quiet sense of belonging.
Dining
When lunch and dinner comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Mildred Symons House so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
