Waking up to the gentle morning light filtering through your window and knowing the day ahead is yours to enjoy. You take your time, savouring the quiet moment to yourself before heading down to breakfast.
The smell of fresh coffee greets you as you enter the dining area, and the smile on your friends’ faces as you take your seat at the table is comforting. There’s always a delicious variety of hot and cold breakfast options to choose from, however, your preference is to start the day with something light, today you feel like a bowl of fresh fruit and yogurt.
Community
After breakfast, you head out to the vegetable garden where you find Brian. He has been gardening since childhood and loves having a chat. He shows off his produce, which is shared with the kitchen for all to enjoy.
As you head back inside you notice a group playing cards and decide to join them. They welcome you to the table, it looks like you’re about to learn how to play Hoy Bingo. Whether it’s playing a game of Hoy, a lively conversation in the lounge, or welcoming new residents, the community spirit here is undeniable. Even on quieter days, it’s comforting to know there’s always someone nearby who understands and cares.
Dining
When lunch and dinner comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Porter Lodge so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
