Waking up to the peaceful sound of birdsong outside your window. The bushland views surrounding Jean Ross House create a sense of calm you didn’t realise you’d missed. It’s a comforting reminder of the natural beauty you’ve always loved, right at your doorstep.
You take your time getting out of bed, knowing there’s no rush. The caring staff here know you like to ease into your mornings, and they respect what is important to you. Eventually you make your way to the dining room and join your friends for breakfast. As you sit down, the morning sun filters through the windows, and you smile, thinking about the day ahead. ;
Community
After breakfast, you and a group of friends, along with the physiotherapist, head outside for a bush walk right on the grounds of Jean Ross House. It’s an easy, yet enjoyable walk. Sitting down halfway on the bench, you notice several kangaroos nearby - it doesn’t get more Australian than this, you conclude. After your bush walk, and much socialising, you stop for a short break before joining the gardening club. There’s always something to do. You’ve enjoyed gardening for as long as you can remember and are grateful to be able to continue doing something you love.
After lunch, a group of you meet in the dining area and start chopping up vegetables for soup. You’re happy to be of use and able to contribute, plus there’s always lots of laughs with this crew. The staff here are genuinely caring which creates a peaceful atmosphere with a wonderful sense of community and connection that is felt throughout the home.
Dining
When lunch and dinner comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Jean Ross House so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
