Being greeted each morning with warm smiles as you join your new friends for breakfast in the nearby dining area. As the sun streams through the windows, you all decide to head outside and make the most of the sunshine with a walk around the beautifully landscaped gardens.
After the walk, you and Delia head for exercises - you both like to stay as active as possible.
Community
After an active start to your day, you head to the nearby lounge for a little rest. Janet is playing her piano and as you’re enjoying the music, Gemma, a friendly lifestyle carer, joins you for a chat. Finding out how you’re feeling and sharing a story about her weekend, she asks about your family and grandkids. Her warmth and genuine interest make you feel valued and respected – like you’re part of a big, extended family.
After lunch, you join your friends at the billiards table. Many of you are new to the game so it’s just light-hearted fun, while others gather nearby for a quieter conversation in the corner. The air is filled with laughter and the hum of connection – a true reflection of the friendly community at Barry Marsh House.
Dining
When lunch and dinner comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Barry Marsh House so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
