Looking out your window at the familiar view of Sydney, the city you’ve called home your entire life. Living in the Eastern Suburbs at Elizabeth Lodge means everything is close – cafes, shops, parks, and public transport. You love how easy it is to pop out for a coffee or take a stroll through the local park, admiring the stunning city views along the way.
You start your day by heading down to the central dining area to join your friends for breakfast. As you take the lift down, you smile, thinking about your plans for the day.
Community
This morning, you’re meeting with the Lifestyle Coordinator and other residents to plan the activities for the upcoming month. The fact that you all get to decide what’s on the agenda makes everything feel more personal. There’s an exhibit at the art museum some of you have been wanting to visit, a perfect suggestion for the next bus trip.
Afterwards you walk up the road with a friend to the local cafe for a barista made cappuccino. For lunch a group of you are heading down to the local park for a picnic lunch, overlooking Sydney Harbour. The staff are wonderful and take care of the food and drinks, leaving you and your friends free to simply enjoy the outing. On this sunny day, it’s hard to imagine a better way to spend the afternoon.
Dining
When lunch and dinner comes around, the dining room has a vibrant energy. Mealtimes are an enjoyable experience that you look forward to, socialising with your friends and often with a glass of wine. You’re grateful for the variety of choice and freshly prepared options the hospitality team prepare each day. Next month you’ve decided to join the food focus group to work with the team on the next menu. You have always enjoyed cooking, so you’re pleased to be involved and contribute.
Home
As you retire to your room for the evening, you reflect on your day and your time at Elizabeth Lodge so far. A big decision at the time to leave your family home, and everything that was familiar to you, but you’re pleased you did. You’re happy you made the move on your own terms, choosing a residential aged care home that feels right for you, a place where you can embrace the social atmosphere, enjoy activities, continue your favourite hobbies, and even explore new ones.
Yet perhaps what you value most are the friendships you’ve built since moving in. On quieter days, when you’re not up for much, it’s comforting to know that you’re surrounded by a supportive and friendly community.
You also appreciate the respectful balance of independence and care the staff provide, they’re always there when you need them.
This is now your home, a place where you feel safe, respected and loved.
