Our Strategic Journey
Our vision is to see Jesus Christ honoured, lives enriched and communities strengthened.
Our target state is to be journeying with people side by side to create life-enriching communities of care.
“If it wasn’t for this Friday night thing we’ve kicked off, I don’t think I’d be here”
- Don, The 6 Amigos
This phrase when you see it in text form, reads a little bleak - but when you hear Don from Dudley Foord House say it, there’s a laugh, a smile and a glint in his eye that is so memorable and is a constant inspiration as we think about what we’re seeking to do as an organisation.
Don is part of the 6 Amigos at Dudley Foord House.
Each Friday night, six residents - they call themselves the 6 Amigos - come together and prepare a home cooked meal, with a ranging menu that reflects their different life journeys. They didn’t know each other before becoming residents but are connected by the feeling of belonging that comes through community around a shared meal.
The role our staff play in this exemplifies what we’re seeking with a number of our strategic initiatives. Tailoring our care to the needs of the individual, giving them options to direct their own journey, and facilitating connection amongst our communities. In this case it was sourcing fresh produce and pouring a glass of wine while acting as silver service waitstaff.
It’s these stories that show how we are side by side with those we serve, with our community and with each other.
